The SignLink split batten is a fixing mechanism used for the installation of signs and fixtures. It is primarily used to mount panel signs to walls. It has also been used to mount cut out letters on external walls and facias .It is a self mating aluminium extrusion. The two blades interlock together to form a very strong wedge connection when under load .The blades have a silicon locking groove or alternatively a 5mm dia threaded rod can be inserted enabling the battens to be locked and unlocked. The split batten is ideal for large heavy items as it allows the installer to fix into the vertical wall studs behind the wall, particularly if the sign is being mounted onto relatively fragile wall sheets such as gyprock. When the installation is complete the sign will be spaced off the wall 8.5mm. It has many applications for shopfitters. Many of the SignLink sign types utilize the split batten - it locates into a recess at the back of the signs. The use of the split batten can significantly reduce the cost of installations because in some instances relatively large signs can be installed with one man instead of two men.
